“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another;”
Today we come to the third evidence of true discipleship:
3. The Commandment That He Left – “A new commandment give I . . .”
What I am speaking to you is not just something that you may or may not do; this is a commandment, and it is the last that the Savior gives!
Let me ask you friend, do you know OBEDIENCE TO THIS COMMANDMENT BRINGS REVIVAL? It will take a truly humble spirit to confess the need of revival beginning first within one’s own heart. But if the Spirit of God is to move in many of our churches THAT is what it is going to take! The hardness and the prickles and dislike among church members is holding the Almighty from working. And HE is not going to make us do one thing that we can do on our own – asking His help.
It also means EVANGELISM. Do you know that the Lord says in John 17, “… that they may be one, that the world may believe”? When there is a oneness in the Church, outsiders will begin to believe. (You find that at the end of acts.) What happened after the disciples experienced Pentecost? They praised the Lord; and they had favor with all the people! And,… “The Lord was adding unto the church daily such as were being saved.”
We have seen the BADGE THAT HE GAVE; THE PATTERN THAT HE LIVED; the COMMANDMENT THAT HE LEFT . . .Tune in for the last thought tomorrow.
